Man, Angel has been good recently. So, I'm going to list all of the things I loved:

1) Connor. Connor, Connor, Connor. VK is just acting the hell out of this part. Anything else this guy is planning to do, acting-wise? I'm all over it. He's been amazing from the first episode that he showed and he hasn't slowed down. Liked seeing at the end that Jasmine hasn't totally taken him over: he said, "Angel" in his own voice. And she clearly values him above the others: Is it because he's her father? Her first, best follower?

2) Jasmine. She may be my favorite Big Bad ever. On either Buffy or Angel. Her laughter while she kept getting wounded and then healed was just... chilling and funny and creepy. Great stuff. And I love her interactions with Connor. She always knows just what to say. And the fingernail marks appearing and then healing on her hand was, again, way creepy.

3) Angel. Angel having an adult son has really humanized him. I care about Angel. I feel terribly for him that he seems to have totally lost Connor. I like Angel. When did that happen?

4) Wesley. For Alexis continues to be very cool. Such a great actor.

5) Fred has really grown up. She's tough and likable, like she was when we first met her, only minus the crazy. And she isn't being babble-girl.

6) The atmosphere of the show. They've been doing a killer job of mixing humor and sheer utter creepiness.

I love Fred. She knocked somebody out!

And I agree, the atmosphere is great.

(And, as usual, I missed the first five minutes.)

Was Buffy a rerun?

It's nice to see someone else liking Connor besides me. :)

Buffy was a rerun: Bring on the Night aka the one where Buffy actually gives a kickass speech.

And I'll bring Angel over this weekend, definitely.

He's so stomped on by the universe. I mean, I look at some of the screwed up stuff that I've done... and that's sans a) being raised in a hell dimension by a vengeance-crazed loony b) never living a day without pain and c) bring jerked around by everyone ever. I just feel so back for the kid... and he is a kid. He really is.

Absolutely. I think that's where everyone forgets to give him credit - he wasn't raised like we were. He was raised to be tough - to be hard - and since he's been back, the only person who's truly shown him kindness only did it to manipulate him (Cordelia). Of course, over the summer when everyone was gone, Fred and Gunn treated him well, but he was so filled with hate and lies over Holtz's death that nothing would have mattered.

I hope he gets a break soon. Because if they totally waste his character because so many people don't like him - sigh. I'll be pissy.

Plus, Fred and Gunn were the two people who took him away to the beach while Angel went off to 'deal' with Holtz. He probably never stopped thinking of them as having helped Angel kill his dad.

I've always been into Fred, but lately I've loved her so much more. Her experiences in "Magic Bullet" and the one before that have just made her realize that she can be a tough little bitch. She survived five years in Pylea, she stood up to and and saved her friends from evil by herself. When they were at the gas station and she sidekicked the dude and knocked the dude down, my first thought wasn't, "That was totally implausible, she weighs, like, three pounds," my first thought was, "Yeah, Fred, you kick that ass." Amy Acker has been acting the shit out of Fred lately, too. I really noticed that in this episode. Fred hasn't been her usual perky self and you can tell that Amy is really enjoying the change of pace. It's allowing her to explore a darker side of her character and a different avenue of acting and she's just rocking.

Very true. I forgot about that (mostly because I hated those episodes - and didn't like Connor back then).

Funny - I really hated Connor last season - but really like him this one. I can't even pinpoint when that all changed. Huh.

I always liked Connor. He was half of the reason that I watched this season (the other half being Wesley).

Well, I always liked adult Connor. Baby!Connor, no.
