I haven't watched The Sentinel, but I was wondering if that's the show that does have a bellowing cop boss. Because Harding Welsh (due South) is not the bellowing type on the show and since there's a great deal of fan crossover between the shows, I was thinking maybe that the idea of the very loud cop boss originated on TS. Because Welsh shouts a lot in fanfic.

Do black screens really appeal to people? So many websites have black screens with light type and it hurts my eyes and I do not understand how people enjoy it. Is it some sort of test? See if the person is willing to risk eyestrain in order to read your stories? (Mostly, I'm not.)

And why is it that there are so few Bashir/O'Brien fics? This is a tragedy. I mean, he likes Julian more than he likes his wife. And it can't be the wife thing, because people ship adulterous pairings in many many other fandoms. Is it the age thing? Are people just not attracted to O'Brien? How is he less attractive than Garak? He has an accent, people. They both have such wonderful accents. And... they have this mutual respect and caring.

Also, I want BoB porn. This is sadly thin on the ground. I mean, yeah, I could go read Daniel/Jack porn or Fraser/Kowalski porn or Buffy/Xander porn, but damnit, I want to read Bashir and O'Brien.

Though now that I'm thinking about it, I could go for some good Ray and Ben smut. They're pretty hot together.

Hmm.

I am totally with you on the dark-screen-light-print thing.
Also, it makes it much more awkward, it like me, you print out fic to read rather than sitting at the computer - you have to jump through so many hoops to reverse it, that I sometimes don't bother, and I know I'm missing some great fics because of it.

Fraser/Vecchio, I agree with the person above who's name I've forgotten said!

[livejournal.com profile] jacklemmon makes BoB icons, she may know where there's some good fic too?

And, yes hate black screen pages.

Dark screens with light text, florescent colors - I hate them all. Give me a white screen and dark text, and a largish font size.

The captain on The Sentinel is a bellow-y sort. Sort of...a cross between Perry White and Walter Skinner, now that I think about it.

Yup, the captain on The Sentinel is definitely bellow-y. He's a big black guy, 6'4" or so, wears glasses and smokes cigars and yells a whole bunch and is the best boss a Sentinel-cop could want :)

Also, I'm right there with you about wanting some BoB. Why isn't there more? I'm assuming you've read Blue Champagne's fic (http://web.archive.org/web/20021130060747/http://home.mindspring.com/~bluecham/)? Yeah, her site's been down a while but I think you can still get to the fics. (Just highlight the whole page to read it.)

I actually did see Fraser/Vecchio in the BdtH teaser. Usually, I get mostly straight vibes from Vecchio... oh, wait! I totally saw the Vecchio/Zuko vibes in their two episodes. So, Vecchio has some slash potential for me.

On a different note, he feels like a more tragic character than the others, for some reason.

Of course, I like tragedy, so that's not always a minus.

Right -- it's just inconvenient in several ways.

Right. I'm fine with shadings of color, but I much prefer dark on light. It's just easier to read, especially quickly or for long periods.

Yeah, the potential is there to see Vecchio as very tragic, and I've written a few of those. "Stanley Raymond Vecchio" is perhaps the saddest of them.

I do love Ray V, and I do see the slash with Zuko, but also with Fraser-- even though many times, I would see it as frustrated homophobic UST.

If you're interested in my Vecchio/Fraser slash, or even my small amount of F/K slash, it's available at:

http://caralil.slashdom.com/caraindex.html

if I remember correctly. ;-)

But they're worth a re-read.

Is that the one with him on the beach in Florida, drinking? I think I remember liking that. It was definitely sad and... a bit bitter, perhaps, if I'm remembering it right.

*tilts head*

I can see that. He's got the Catholic Italian cop thing working against him. And he overreacts sometimes, to Fraser.

I love [livejournal.com profile] jacklemmon/[livejournal.com profile] delectableoomph and have quite a few of her icons in use (although unfortunately she doesn't share the due South love, but her SG1 icons are wonderful!)

I've been looking over her icons. There is much prettiness and I must debate with myself over what I want.

Tempting aren't they? To begin with all my icons were hers but as I've headed more to due South and Sports Night (as well as a percentage of non-fandom icons) I'm using a few less. But it's scarily easy to fill 50 icon spaces when you've got her selection to chose from.
