butterfly: (Not Goodbye -- John Crichton)

It's pretty impressive how Ben Browder and Michael Shanks can look quite a bit alike, be playing similar characters, and yet be so damn distinct once you've gotten to know them.

Kinda like Merry and Pippin in the LotR series. The first movie, I didn't know one from the other. Now? It's so obvious which is which and the differences outnumber the similarities. But the way they're played hasn't changed at all, what's changed is me, the observer.

Anyway, here I am, watching the Farscape episodes that I haven't seen yet. First up, the ones that I've missed from first season.

Aw, is this the first time we see Zhaan have a photogasm?

Dude, Aeryn was seriously not getting that John doesn't really want to avoid the wormhole. At this point, his big obsession is getting home (this is just before their first 'alone together for kissy-time episode' yes? (The Flax) -- I wonder what it means that their first overtly romantic connections happen off of Moya -- The Flax, A Human Reaction, Aeryn and John with their thing on Talyn... it's interesting).

Dude, Zhaan's totally hitting on D'Argo!

Oh, this is where Furlow makes her first appearance?

"You're with me on this, right?"
"Oh, now it occurs to you to ask."

Yeah, a John in the grips of something he's passionate about is a John that's pretty much blind to everything else.

"Next time, you get to fly solo."

And he does go by himself in... A Human Reaction, yes? Aeryn and the other follow him after?

Neat looking planet.

Ben Browder is one well put-together man. Those are nice arms to have.

Also, he's wearing a grey shirt here (light grey, but definitely not white).

Furlow's kinda creepy.

John can pull off a pretty good alpha male routine here.

And I love how 'Butch and Sundance' works on more than one level. It's a code name, but it's also very appropriate -- partners in crime, John's pulling an alpha routine and acting all butch, while Aeryn is, of course, Aeryn Sun. It's the perfect choice. John's such a clever guy.

"I am Rolf."
"Worf?"
"Rolf!"

Hee. I love John.

*shivers*

Okay, John is really damn good at intense. He's just good at being tough, really. This is what of him will always survive his coming trials. John has a core of white-blue fire, the hottest there is, and no matter what happens, that fire stays lit.

"I didn't show any signs of submission."
"You don't have to. You're female. Sorry... I don't make the rules."
"You certainly seem familiar with them."

Very interesting exchange.

The shots of D'Argo in the desert are damn cool.

John is so frelling cool in this episode. Gah.

Also, there's a nice ass shot.

So, Aeryn's bra-line is very visible in that shirt. I like her hair that way, up but curling around her face.

But I'm still not particularly attracted.

"Relationship? Oh, we have a relationship? No wonder you want to kill me."

I love John.

Aw... "Friendship is a lot to ask."

John, trying to make connections. He's such a sociable creature. You just know that, in high school, he was one of those smart, popular jocks that you never could hate because he was also damn nice (I knew a couple of those.).

"Crichton, you are my ally. I will not abandon you."

*melts into a puddle*

Oh, my. Aeryn first coming through that door? She was hot there. Like, a lot. That was good entrance.

So, that was Furlow. And she appears again in season three?

Hmm.

You know what would be cool? A Farscape vid to Comedy Tonight (from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum). Someone with good comic timing could make a brilliant vid to that. The show has all the raw material.
