Does anyone else ever feel the urge to smack Martouf in The Tok'ra (part 1) after Carter asks him about Jolinar's earlier host Rosha? Because he goes on and on about her beauty. Damn, was she just a pretty face?

Then again, most Goa'ulds choose their hosts based on beauty, at least from what I can see. The Tok'ra aren't as different as they pretend to be. She probably was chosen because she was a hottie.

Carter: "Okay, well, I am curious. What was Jolinar's host like?"
Martouf: "Jolinar's host, Rosha, was very beautiful. She had eyes like the oceans of Marloon, hair the colour of Abydos, and her smile was... was as infectious as laughter. In fact, Rosha looked very much like you, Captain Carter. You are very beautiful."

Although, on a shallow note of my own, I didn't think Rosha/Jolinar was very beautiful. Horrible hair. Then again, I'm the person who, while watching Hathor, wonders why Hathor mentioned Sam's beauty when Hathor herself was light-years hotter.

And I didn't think Anise/Freya was very hot, either.

I think Hathor mentioned Sam's beauty in an effort to flatter and lull her, since she couldn't use the traditional Pink Aphrodisiac Dust. She knew she was light-years hotter than Sam.

Heh. I was ranting about this very thing in nos' LJ just last week. I don't hate Martouf, but honestly, the way he describes Jolinar/Rosha makes me want to kick his ass.

Here's a bit of what I said (http://www.livejournal.com/users/nostalgia_lj/599242.html?thread=4902858#t4902858): If I died, and my husband started describing me to another woman, and he started by telling her I had long black hair and big boobs, I would totally return from the dead and kick his ass.

It's like Jolinar -- and by extension, Sam -- isn't a person or personality. She's just this collection of extremely attractive body parts. And the stupid thing is that it's not even Jolinar that has these body parts, it's her host! Grrr.

But I realise now that I mis-remembered the Sam/Martouf exchange -- Martouf wasn't describing Jolinar, he was describing Rosha. Which... doesn't really excuse him, IMO, but at least makes more sense than why he doesn't describe Jolinar as two feet long, fins, fangs, and kind of a greenish-brown colour ;)

Right, Sam did ask about the host, but... the host had nothing to offer but her looks? I'm with you, I would so be back from the grave to kick Martouf's ass.
