Vidding: A Year On
May. 17th, 2006 12:52 pmI've been vidding for over a year now. Wow. My anniversary was back on April 27th, which is when (a year ago) I posted my first vid, Over Her (Dawson's Creek; Joey/Pacey), made with the editing program that came with my laptop.
I've fallen completely in love with the process. I love vidding -- it's a rush, totally a rush. I've made twenty-one vids so far and I feel like I haven't even started yet. Of course, this is partly because, even before I was vidding, I was longing to vid. I have lists made up of songs that I want to vid to particular fandoms. Nearly every new song that I hear gives me an idea. It's a lovely, lovely feeling.
My most popular vid so far is Pavlov's Bell (due South; Fraser/RayK). Just the other day, I got a wonderfully lovely note about it (mention was made of how I had helped convert someone to the Fraser/RayK side of things!).
I love all my vids, of course (if I hadn't felt passionate about the subject, I wouldn't have invested the time), though my favorite always tends to be the last one that I've made. I'm trying to push myself with the vids, trying to do new things with each one, dare myself to experiment with a technique that I haven't tried yet. I very definitely still firmly consider myself to be a beginner.
Vidding is one of the most enjoyable things in the universe, I have decided.
