I've been watching Stargate music vids and I just long to see Fallen. There's that beautiful part when Daniel first comes out and Jack and then Sam and then Teal'c all move forward to greet him. There's these few seconds when Jack and Sam walk in step with these nearly identical looks of hope and disbelief.
Now that I've seen all but one episode of Season Four, I am (naturally) revising my feelings as to the timing of Daniel's fall. The twist starts earlier -- in The Curse. That's when Daniel starts losing. Jack and Sam are kinda pulling away in the sense of going, "Eeep. I'm attracted to my inferior/superior officer! This sucks! Woe for the potential hot sex that can Never Be!" and thus focusing more of their attention on each other than was their wont in, for example, season one, where it's more... divided? Hmm. But Daniel was younger then... acted younger then. He's not getting treated like a beloved younger brother anymore, the one with long hair and a rambling mouth. He's gotten more serious. He's lost a lot by this time. Sha're is dead, not just missing. And he butts heads with Jack a lot, always has, but before, they were more willing to reach out to mend the gaps.
Hmm. I need to rewatch the season next, I think. With commentaries.
