"So," I asked myself just recently, "Why is it that Wonderfalls isn't leaping out at you?"

Then I read [livejournal.com profile] stakebait's post about why she's not watching past the first episode and realized that some of my problems are the same as hers. I want the 'whys'. I want an internally consistent world. Now, it may be a bit much to expect that in the first episode, but it feels arbitrary. Whereas in Buffy, she was Called because there were vampires. We learned so much more about it later on, but there was a reason for her strength, speed, etc. in the first episode.
Minor spoilers for Wonderfalls 1.01 -- Wax Lion (mostly only about the basic premise of the show) )
I'm going to watch the new episode tonight, see how it shakes out, but I'm definitely wobbling toward not picking up Wonderfalls.

Question: If I cared enough to make this journal 'friends-only', would you care enough to comment to be added?

Utterly theoretical, as I don't care enough (about possible RL consequences, about privacy issues, etc) to ever actually do it. But curious, hence question.

I've been going through and updating my website (which has a new title: Myriad -- Infinite Possibilities, which is looking prettier (and more efficient!) by the day. I've started to put together that fanfic index. I'm only putting up stories that I have .txt links to, so that I'll hop to on making cover pages for my fic. My review sections are very pretty and organized, though this does mean that you can actually tell that there isn't much there there. I moved Firefly to the main index, mostly on the strength of the fact that I have the dvd set and will therefore end up reviewing it someday.

Everything in the Buffy section that isn't part of Perfect Possible has been updated to the new color. All of Angel and Firefly are the right color, and a lot of the Lord of the Rings is.

I will get around to answering comments. Maybe even tonight.

*pause*

I'm totally a disaffected Gen Y who doesn't bother to do anything, aren't I? At any second, I'll start feeling a great kinship with Jaye.

Okay, I do have a question. Why do the critics keep calling this a drama? It's not. Wonderfalls is a comedy. Where's the drama? I have, thus far, seen no drama. This is a surreal comedy. More than anything, this show make me laugh. It's very good at that. Much more consistently funny than Buffy (though I wasn't watching Buffy primarily for humor, so that doesn't really matter).

It did amuse me, but there's no there there. I feel no need to dissect the show. I feel no particular need to talk about it. I still haven't talked about it, because I just can't work up the necessary level of emotion. I have no attachment.

I suspect that I'll watch again next week if my schedule allows. I also suspect that if my schedule conflicts, I won't bother recording it. It's not Angel, and doesn't share the same night as Angel, so if I have to work on Friday, Tim will be out of luck when it comes to me as a viewer (of course, as I haven't a Nielson box, this doesn't matter much, either, in the long run).
