butterfly: (Happiness - Frodo)
Have given up reviewing and given into the desire to just rewatch Fellowship. After this, I will undoubtably go straight to bed.

Or, you know, stay up until morning and rewatch Towers. One of those.

*sigh*

Frodo is so pretty.

And it's so odd... watching it this time around, it's so odd to think that the first time, I couldn't tell Merry and Pip apart. They're such separate people to me now that I can't believe I was ever confused.

And interesting note: Gandalf won't utter the language of Mordor in the Shire, but is willing to do it in Elrond's Council when need comes. A statement of his priorities or does it just show us that he didn't need to invoke Black Speech in order to get Frodo's attention?

Because I am, in fact, Like That, I've kept track of the times that Sam has said Frodo's name and also the times that he's added a 'mister'.

I also take various other notes, because I really can't help myself.
Be like me - Fellowship (extended edition) 'Frodo'ing )
Mr. Frodo - 12 times
Frodo - 16 times

You know what I wish someone better at noticing music would do? Go through the movies and note whenever the themes are played - which parts and in which situations.

And as I am now on the verge of falling over, I believe it is time to rest.

Notes on the cast members:
I love Clark. I love Lex. I like Chloe well enough. I hate Lionel. I like the Kents, except when Jon is being annoying, and then I just like Martha. Pete's... there. Sometimes. Lana tends to annoy me.

I love Angel. I love Wesley. I love Fred. I love Gunn. I like Eve quite a bit, and I'm liking Spike more by the episode. I like Lorne when he's actually doing something. None of the cast annoys me on a regular basis, since Spike went and got interesting.

Notes on general things:
I forgive Clark. I forgive Lex. I don't forgive Lionel, though I think I understand.

I hurt for Angel. Spike and Angel were both right during the fight, and they were also both wrong. I love Eve's place in the show. I miss Wes.
notes on the Angel trailer - spoils up to whatever it spoiled - 100th episode? )
But this is me, of course.
butterfly: (Meet Again - Sam/Frodo)
Both pre-quest, both with Frodo being more than a bit queer. Both really long, really good series that aren't finished yet. Both are a mix of movie and book canon.

Rites of Passage is a half-finished story about Frodo Baggins, growing up. The first half deals with his life at Brandy Hall and why he leaves, and the second (as yet unposted) deals with his life at Bag End. There's some Frodo slash in the first bit with a minor character from the books (or the family tree, I think). It's a fascinating look at one person's idea of Hobbit society, Frodo's looks, and those screwy Elves. Plus, Merry and Pippin are young and cute (Pippin being much younger, but not too much cuter) and feel very much like real people. It's a look at a Frodo that starts out much pricklier than we normally see - and for good reason.

The Making of Samwise is more a straight-up Frodo&Sam deal, as we start with Frodo's arrival at Bag End and with Sam's feelings on the whole thing. There's some Sam slash with a minor book character. Very enjoyable. There isn't yet any graphic type slash yet, but there's some touching that is pretty hot.

And if there are any other stories out there like this (long, indepth looks at character and culture), then I would adore knowing about them, as this has become my favorite type of LotR fanfic.
