You know, something occurred to me. Maybe part of the reason I disliked Spike is that he stole Xander's metaphor. Xander was the first person to bring up dancing.
"I want more... I want to dance with you."
And then Spike went and stole it.
Also, it pisses me off that all the boyfriends get to hit Xander.
Angel: Enemies, punches Xander while Angel's pretending to be evil.
Oz: Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered, punches Xander for not taking advantage of Willow.
Riley: Buffy vs. Dracula, punches Xander to get him out of the way (and how much bigger than Xander is Riley? Bigger enough not to have to punch him).
Spike: Many times, most notably Sleeper, when he punches Xander because he can't bother to explain that he's going out to find out the truth.
And it also annoys me how much abuse Xander got on the show and how it often his pain was used as a joke.
Just something I've been thinking about. About how maybe the reason I'm so nice to Xander in fic is because he gets such a raw deal on the show.
