So, I've been slowly pulling out of the Buffy fandom. Even now that people at TWoP are less bitter(mostly), I still feel less of an urge to go there are discuss.
That may have to do with how much I've identified with my girl this year. When people say that the show is sucking or that it's just not believable. Oh, wow, ouch. Like being staked. Because these are people that I really like and it hurts to think that they think that something that I resonate so closely with is a big ol' suckfest. I need to pull away from the fandom a bit because the show's becoming too personal for me to share as much.
Smallville is fun and new and slashy. And I don't fully identify with any of the characters. Much safer to talk about. There's no risk that I'll take insults to Smallville personally. Because it does have it's lame moments and for me, Smallville is just a show. Which is such a relief to have after I watch Buffy, which is always a huge emotional release for me.
Popslash is somewhere in between. It can be very personal, with an element of wish-fulfillment. It can be impersonal. I can use it to explore myself and other personas or just to get off. Popslash is a very flexible fandom.
Ooo! Justin's my boyfriend!
Hee. I am so easy.
