After silvia's stunning rant about the recapping of shows at TWoP, I thought that I would put my $0.02 in.

Britney...

Apparently talking about Buffy, the girl, brought to mind another girl who's running on empty.

Britney. Britbot. Britney Rasa.

So many words for the empty mind.

Buffy and Britney are empty in different ways. Buffy is empty because she's given so much. I'm not entirely sure that anyone ever showed Britney who she could be.

Maybe she couldn't ever be a Madonna or a Janet Jackson or even a Jennifer Lopez.

And her success is just as bad for her as all of the rest. Because it reinforces that this is who she should be.

Which is what makes me pity her as much as I can be disgusted by her. Because I'm not sure that she ever really had a choice.

There's a new Buffy tonight, which always brings me spasms of sheer joy.

And I'll see Smallville, too.
