Inauguration Day
Jan. 20th, 2005 02:25 pmJohn Kerry and Barbara Boxer have my admiration for standing up against the nomination of Rice. I knew I liked Kerry. I hope he continues to be outspoken -- he's learned that being silent is not helpful, I think. If that's the only good that the Dems get out of the election, at least it is there.
I'm... looking forward to seeing tonight's Daily Show and their take on the Inauguration. I celebrated by donating $50 to the Democratic party.
I don't like the way that Bush operates -- with fear and lies and seeding division. I dislike his style -- I want a President that I can believe is smarter than I am. I do believe that freedom is and must be more important than safety (the integrity of a nation being as vital as its very existence) and that what we did in Iraq did not promote freedom or safety.
I plan on spending as much of the next four years as possible fighting for better changes in the U.S. and to slow or reverse the changes for the worse.
On this, the Inauguration Day of the returning President, I wish to make it clear that, as a citizen of this nation, I will fight for freedom, justice, and equality. But not with weapons and not with anger.
My weapons are words and peace.
And hope.
