Dead Zone: Johnny's neat.
Oct. 13th, 2005 02:16 pmSo, I've now watched the entirety of the first season of Dead Zone. And now I'll rewatch the season more slowly before going onto the next. I just like having the shape of things, first.
Johnny has the Most Versatile Psychic Power Ever, man. He can see the future and the past, and he can freeze his visions so that he can get a closer look. Also, I've spoiled myself horribly for the show, by reading all the fanfic that I can find, and Johnny feels a lot like what I had in my head during the fanfic.
Walt, on the other hand, continues to surprise me with his voice. It's... *waves a hand* ...deeper than I was expecting. And it surprises me every time he opens his mouth. But not in a bad way.
There is also Dax Sarah. Who is adorable and conflicted and sweet.
Bruce is a stand-up guy, though I'm not sure he's actually a very good physical therapist. Or maybe he just thinks that Johnny looks really hot with the cane that he totally doesn't need. Who knows.
I'm really interested by the Greg Stillson plotline. I know more than I should, because of the whole 'reading all the fanfic' thing, but I was definitely not expecting all those neat looks at younger Greg and where Greg and Johnny's paths had crossed before. It does lend a note of 'destiny' to things.
Also, I think that I'm narrowing down what makes me embrace shows. Possibly. There are several factors that I believe I weigh subconsciously, and I'm trying to make that process more of a conscious one, so that I understand what I need. I think that I've picked out 'wit', 'gloss', 'detailed characters', 'character interactions with spark' and 'realistic (in-universe) consequences'. Gloss is actually more important than I'd thought -- Homicide is quite clearly a good show, but it just isn't glossy enough for me. It doesn't have that touch of magic.
