Teen Wolf: I love parallels
Aug. 29th, 2012 12:45 pma) Derek is rendered helpless by the ~enemy (Kate; lizard) and Stiles has to take care of him until Scott arrives to save the day.
b) Scott goes to dinner with the Argents
c) Allison's direct deception of a family member is key (Kate in S1; Gerard in S2)
In any good parallel, it's the differences that are most important.
Here, Derek becomes helpless because he's trying to protect Stiles (he's distracted by trying to get Stiles to run); also, Stiles helps him solely by his own choice rather than being pushed into it by Scott.
Gerard isn't fooled by Scott's human boy act (while Kate is suspicious, she does buy into Allison's deception and end up not suspecting Scott).
Have seen the "ask me about a favorite character and I'll tell you why I wouldn't date them" meme around. I'm now attempting to think of any of my favorite characters that I would date. I mean, even Rose is too much of an adrenaline junkie for me (so many of them are) and she's probably the most likely one I'd want to date.

YES. Stiles was being protected by Derek - he moved RIGHT in front of him and snarled. On some level, Stiles is Pack.
Allison, do not believe what people tell you just because they are older than you and family members! FFS, girl! HOW WELL DID THAT WORK LAST TIME?

And this one she doesn't even know and like beforehand, like she did with Kate.

Date: 2012-08-30 03:45 pm (UTC)And, Stiles hasn't realized this, and Derek would fumble his way through saying that he values Stiles, but it's clear that he trusts that Stiles will think on his feet, use his brain, and they can KEEP UP WITH EACH OTHER. That's the other thing that people forget. Stiles isn't out there all alone, He and Derek work WELL together.
Allison's tendency to blindly trust has bitten her in the butt in the past. Unfortunately it continues to do so, and she has to recognize it if she is going to start thinking for herself and figuring out what sort of person she wants to be.

Plus, he's probably the least intelligent of all the characters on the show (which the show has acknowledged several times) and that's a factor as well.

They do. All the times when they've had to work together to meet a goal, they've done well. They make a good team and that trust is slowly building (and, really, they've only known each other for three or four months, so it's not even that slow -- it just seems slow in comparison to the insta-relationship of Scott & Allison).

Like Scott, critical thinking does not seem to be Allison's strong point.
