So, I gave in and watched Teen Wolf.

I was determined not to watch another teen supernatural show.
...I should stop trying to be determined about these things. It never seems to work.
I was surprised to learn that the main character is someone named Scott, who is the character that actually is a new werewolf as of the first episode.
However, even with only two episodes, it's easy to see why fandom appears to mostly ignore Scott and Allison in favor of focusing on Stiles (♥) and Derek.
a) so far, the Scott and Allison story is an okay retread of the "oh noes, we are on warring sides" staple of drama. It's been done a lot and, at least at this point, Scott and Allison haven't broken any new ground nor do they have particularly striking chemistry. They're basically just another cute-but-not-fascinating main couple on a supernatural show (and what's up with the shows putting the couple together so quickly, anyway?).
b) Stiles is the active member of the Stiles & Scott friendship. He propels things along, he's the one with the family connection, he does research, he takes interestingly motivated actions like deciding to talk to Derek Hale while Derek is in the back of his dad's police car. Basically every interesting thing that happens in the first two episodes happens because of something Stiles does (hell, Scott is only a werewolf because Stiles took him out to the woods that night).
Stiles is also much more dynamic and interesting than Scott, even in just two episodes (Scott being your basic "I want a normal life!" supernatural character; wow, he whines a lot). In this*, he reminds me strongly of Pacey from Dawson's Creek, who pretty much stole the show from Dawson completely.
c) Oh, speaking of that scene with Derek -- yeah, I see the chemistry. I'm going to assume that it only gets stronger from this point. (I'm also amused at the scene from the first episode, the first time Stiles sees Derek, when his jaw drops and stays that way the rest of the scene)
Side note: this show is really heavy-handed with the 'be afraid' music. It's kinda already pushed me over into giggling every time it comes up.
*and in other things; hello, cop father! Though his dad is much better than Pacey's, thankfully
I think that's all I have time for right now. Better get back to homework. But I will probably try to watch more at some point.
ETA: I just saw this. Okay, yeah, I think that this show likes the slash fans.
lol, "We're on a ship! Pun intended."
