So many great vids this year! It's hard to narrow it down. I will try to keep it to a reasonable number, but it's tough.

Oh, before I get to the recs, I noticed that some of the vids had a bit of glitching on my dvds, including my Avengers vid, Raise Your Hand. So, if your version is glitching, the download should hopefully be glitch-free!

Premieres Show

60 Feet Tall by [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r: I have no idea who the main character of this vid is, but I can tell you that she's awesome, kicks ass, and beats up Michael Fassbender and Ewan McGregor. Lovely movement; the use of black and white works really well, and you get a fantastic sense of the main character and what she does and goes through.

The Adventure by [livejournal.com profile] greensilver: Oh! I almost don't want to say why this vid is amazing, because it was such a tremendously wonderful surprise. I will put it under text that requires highlighting, so that if you also want to be wonderfully surprised, you can be: Neville! This is Neville's story and it is beautiful and perfect and it is the vid that made me cry in vid review. I love the set-up of the universe and then the reveal of Neville. The moment the vid made me start wanting to clutch at my heart was the first close-up on Neville's eyes. This vid! Beautiful.

Lateralus by [livejournal.com profile] rhoboat: This is beautiful. Love the way it spirals outward. Someone at vid review said that this vid just came across as very intelligent and that's very much true, in a completely elegant way. It also made me feel for Walter in a way that the show never did. Great job dealing with the alternate universe -- I didn't make it that far in the show, but the vid took me there and it worked so well for me.

Masters of War by [livejournal.com profile] bironic: I have complicated feelings about Stargate: Atlantis. Oh, boy, are my feelings complicated. This vid does a fantastic job of spinning out all the dark and manipulative and destructive things that the main characters of the show did or caused to happen and focusing on them and letting you feel them.

Possession by [livejournal.com profile] bradcpu: Oh, this vid! My first association with this song was due South. It was the song for the very destructive, broken, selfish and conflicted feelings Victoria and Fraser shared. This vid captured all those emotions just as deeply for me as the Victoria/Fraser relationship did, which is a really big thing for me, because I have incredibly strong feelings about Victoria/Fraser. I don't know Legend of the Seeker except through VVC vids, and this vid just showed me a completely different side of the show and the characters. Loved it.

The Lightning Strike by [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24: My heart is still broken over the cancellation of Kings, but this vid makes it even more broken because we didn't get to see Jack and David become who they were meant to be. So tragic. This vid does an amazing job of showing the reverberations of some very old stories. In vid review, I think it was [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza who pointed out how classic stories can illustrate out how, once upon a time, the 'slash' reading was not subtext but the main text of many heroic/mythic/historical stories. Alexander & Hephaestion; the Epic of Gilgamesh; Achilles and Patroclus. I actually have a lot of feelings about that, both positive and negative (ask about the women in so many of those cultures/stories!) but, ah, this vid taps into all my epic emotions about this particular kind of relationship, with a king and a man who loves and supports him, and that kind of relationship has lasted through history and left its mark.

Ramalama by [livejournal.com profile] flummery: This vid is all of the awesome things about Once Upon A Time with none of the things that made me tilt my head to the side to go, "huh?" Fantastic timing and movement and the song just works so well. Love it.

Long, Long Time Ago by [personal profile] kiki_miserychic (not online yet): There's a woman who can be a bell or a tree or the wind or tons of other things. And she's in love with a statue! Actually, I don't know if either of those things are true. I think they are. The vid is beautiful; even before I found out in vid review that it was made from an experimental animated short, it had that vibe to me. Lovely.

Rude Boy Resort by [livejournal.com profile] cherryice: This is the Tony Stark vid of my heart. It aired and I was just... "yes. Yes, that is Tony." I think this is my favorite vid from the whole weekend. I could just watch it over and over.

How It Ends by [livejournal.com profile] elipie: I have never seen Hugo. I didn't think I wanted to see Hugo. This vid has told me that I was completely wrong and that I desperately need to see Hugo. Lovely. Full of emotion.

Everything Is Wrong by [personal profile] laurashapiro: Adorable! I only know the show through fandom osmosis, but the vids for Community seem to be invariably charming, funny, and sweet. This one focuses in on the character named Britta (so the program tells me) and it does a wonderful job of getting me to fall in love with her.

How I Got Over by [livejournal.com profile] heresluck (not online yet): And this is the vid that made me cry during the vid show. I don't think I can write any more about it. I might cry again.

Carry On by [livejournal.com profile] settiai: So many feelings! It got me in the heart but then it was also very stirring and inspirational. And it made me look forward to Winter Soldier even more than I already was, which I did not realize was possible.

I'm Gonna Be by [livejournal.com profile] milly: The blurb is "Rachel + Stage = OTP" and, yes. I stopped watching the show, but I still adored Rachel and wanted good things to happen for her and this vid just gave me warm fuzzies and...yeah, I love Rachel.

Barton Hollow by [livejournal.com profile] fan_eunice: Very powerful vid! Based on this vid, I don't think I can watch Homeland (I think it would be too much for me at times; this is why I only watched the first episode of The Wire) but I loved the vid. Broken people, trying to figure things out, probably breaking more in the process.

Challenge

What I Am by [livejournal.com profile] sisabet, [livejournal.com profile] sweetestdrain, [personal profile] trelkez: I did not watch the Hulk movies. This vid makes me regret not watching at least the Edward Norton one.

Dead and Gone by [livejournal.com profile] anoel: This vid is a definite 'wow'. I haven't watched Game of Thrones (yet) but this vid did a great job of laying out Arya Stark's character (I think that's her name) and the huge changes that she goes through over the course of the show.

Jag Svär by [livejournal.com profile] revolutionaryjo, [personal profile] lunate8, [personal profile] bessyboo, [profile] yashakizu, and [profile] bitterlotus (not online yet): Because it's hilarious. It just...is. It is.

And there are more that I could rec, except that I think I'm out of words (as you probably could tell). There are other fantastic vids; it was a very strong show. There are some vids from Club Vivid that I want to rec too but, again, out of words for the moment.
