Smallville: Bride

So, I have several thoughts.
Firstly, that Oliver Queen makes a much better ex-love interest than he does a current one. He was so incredibly sweet with Lois on the porch. I'm not sure when exactly he tipped to knowing that Clark was the guy that she was talking about, but it wouldn't really have shown much because it's not a huge surprise to him. He's been noticing the sparks between the two of them since the first time all three of them were in the same room.
Jimmy was also a really sweet and encouraging friend to Lois. You can really tell how much he likes and respects her and how he thinks it would be the most awesome thing ever for these two friends of his that he admires so much to hook up (he's been angling for them since... "Crimson").
Loved Lana's reintroduction. I started *heart*ing Lana when she pulled a spike out of her hand (in, what... "Zod"?) and that feeling has only increased. I adored her hair and her maturity level and her wearing of black (... she looks good in black) and her conversation with Oliver was just terrific.
Chloe was really great in this episode (and we had that very interesting validation of Clark's decision to remove the secret in the form of her telling Clark that it felt like a giant weight had been lifted from her shoulders and then a chastisement of the same act from Lana, who told Clark that doing something like that to her would be a truly unforgivable act). Her utter joy with Jimmy (and about Jimmy) was beautiful and their 'garter belt' scene was kinda hot.
Then we had Lois and Clark. From the cute, tension-filled scene in the beginning through the gorgeous (wordless) dance and near-kiss, and then the hug and good-bye, I really enjoyed their stuff in this episode. I understand that some people have issues with the relationship because it doesn't match up with typical Superman canon but... it was kinda destined not to from the moment that Lois Lane met a naked Clark Kent in a corn field.
Lois got there first. She fell for Clark before he fell for her (though he definitely has feelings and he's found her attractive since... oh, probably the very start, but he's gotten much more comfortable with it over the years). It still took her over four years to get to that place.
Smallville spent years on the Clark/Lana relationship. I do think that it deserves better closure than a dvd goodbye and they have the chance to have that now. And both Lana and Clark were so grown-up and, well, reserved in their scenes together. A lot more thinking and a lot less heedless emotion. Looking at their scenes makes me believe that, while it might take them longer, they might very well end up having the same kind of sweet relationship that Oliver and Lois have discovered in the wake of their breakup.
Another small note about Clark and Lois -- I loved the dancing scene so much. It was... delicate and peaceful and I absolutely adored that neither of them needed to say a word. They are this close to passing the Broccoli test.
I'm not a big believer in love at first sight, so I actually do appreciate the slow growth of emotions that this Lois and Clark have had over many previous renditions of the couple. Clark is very definitely intrigued by Lois in their first episodes in S4 but they're in very different places in their lives and not really suited for each other. There's chemistry and a connection, but they aren't mature enough for each other.
They're finally entering that place in their lives where they are ready for each other. Lois got there a little bit sooner, but Clark is clearly on his way (see: UST-filled cufflinks scene, dance scene that required no words, and the hug goodbye and longing looks scene).
