I wouldn't have mentioned, but obsessed is such a strong word that it sticks out to me. It adds a certain weight to things. *shrugs*
I think there were a lot of times with Martha that the Doctor was going through the motions because his heart wasn't back into the game. And she helped with that. Just by being there, having another person there, it gave him something to focus on. I always felt like that last scene (in S3) was entirely for Martha, though, realizing that she was playing through behaviors that she knew weren't going to help her in the long run and deciding to get out so that she could move on.
