I think that I could only feel for sympathy for Adama right now if I actually liked him already (in contrast to Tigh, whom I've never particularly liked and yet often feel sympathy for). As I've been disliking him for seasons now, this means that I'm not terribly invested in his suicide tour (how much food/water/oxygen is in that raptor? how will he go to the bathroom? imagine how badly he's going to smell if he does survive and hook back up with Roslin). The thing about him that I dislike most is that the quality that he seems to find most admirable about other people is their loyalty to himself while loyalty to other causes seems to be something he finds incomprehensible. See: everything Lee does ever.
Also:
"What would Ellen say [about Tigh sleeping with Caprica]?"
Well, she might say, "At least yours is pretty."
I thoroughly adore Lee Adama. Have I mentioned that recently? His storyline was definitely the best and most interesting part of the episode for me. The first episode of this show that I saw was Bastille Day and I think that that's definitely marked how I approach it.
Athena was Athena. She picks her side and just frakking sticks to it. Half of the time this is admirable, half of the time it is scary as all hell, especially when other people get in her way.
