Personal Update and Thursday Television
Nov. 19th, 2006 01:37 pmI feel like I have no time right now. November may not have been the best time to plan any sort of project. But I refuse to give up, especially as the page of links is glaring at me accusingly. I shall overcome! At some undefined point in the future!
In animal news, the search for the right dog continues. We went to the (much) larger Portland Human Society this weekend and plan to return again next Saturday. The dog run has been constructed (which was actually kinda fun -- building things with
jic is much more enjoyable than building things alone) and almost everything is in place (except for dog food, which I'm not buying until I've actually found the dog).
The worms appear to be in very good health and are devouring what we give them. Yay for worms!
And now for this week's Smallville and Supernatural.
Static felt a bit spliced-together. The A and B plots were not only mismatched, but they felt like they were in the wrong places -- I didn't feel that Clark's side of the plot got anywhere near the attention that it deserved.
The Lex/Lana relationship continued to develop in very interesting ways, though. She really has given him her loyalty to an extent that I have a hard time imagining anything shaking it, looking at the way she excused away what she heard from Chloe and... static-guy whose name escapes me.
Overall, it was probably the weakest episode of the season. Definitely the most disjointed.
As for Supernatural...
I adored it. Weaving a real-life story/legend in was so incredibly cool. Again, another very Dean-focused episode, but I have hopes for that shifting back towards center, especially given the 'soon' trailer we got. I like that they aren't glossing over Dean's grief (just as they didn't gloss over Sam's grief for Jess last year) and I can understand why Dean's pain is more overwhelming than Sam's -- a large part of it is based, I think, in that Sam understands why Papa Winchester would make that choice. And, given the option of having one of them with him, I think that Sam would chose Dean. As far as Sam is concerned, however badly it hurts, the feeling that his Dad made the better choice is there.
