butterfly: (Damaged - Connor)

While I'm still up...

...have a vid recommendation!

The Boy Is Mine kills me. It's a Cordy/Connor vid and I adore the concept. Everyone else wants Connor and Cordy isn't letting them have him because the boy is hers.

Warning: This recommendation was made on little sleep and too much caffeine.

Really? hmmm. I was actually really excited when I saw it announced and thought the concept was neat, but then... upon viewing the vid I thought the clip choice, length, and editing was so poor in places that the vid was driven into the ground and it just, well, didn't deliver what was promised. *sniff*

What was it that hooked you? Sometimes I don't really get into a vid initially, but then upon repeated watchings something clicks and suddenly I get its rhythm and stuff falls into place. (Nia's Cordelia/Buffy to "Dirty" was like that for me, and also this "Clark is screwed tango" piece by, I think, Hope.)

It's almost certainly the concept. I'm sure that the vid could be better done, but I spend the entire vid giggling so... I'd love to see a tighter, more pov-strong version, but the concept itself amuses me. I'm easy to please. Especially late at night when I've had too much Pepsi and have been releasing endomorphins into my system via mild cutting.

I may not like the vid in the morning, when I'm actually awake in all ways.

yes, yes! You got what was niggling at me, and so the Pepsi hasn't curbed you TOO much. ;) hehehe. The POV was all wonky, and that's one of those things that kills a vid for me. I can take unpolished editing and some clips that linger much too long, but if the POV isn't tight I'm left bewildered and alienated.

Point of view is very important. Because, yes.

Um. Wait. Let me de-JC-ify my brain.

*pause*

Right. Because a vid is a story. And consistent pov is a very important element in any story. If your pov shifts, it needs to be either very clear or part of the point of the vid should be the shifting pov.

Oh, and since we're on the vid subject...

Some really fun Pacey/Joey vids have come out lately. One addy is here, where I would suggest all of them except "Bring Me To Life" -- if only because the song choice is just SO WRONG for the pairing and the fandom, coming off really weird and just... no. Not perfect editing and no crystal clear footage, but then that fandom doesn't really have access to the same perfect footage that BtVS is swimming in, and... the vids are just fun! fun! They are unashashed shipper glee. They are frothy, soap opera-y goodness. hehehehehe.

[There's a thread with more DC vid links here, but you might need to be a FanForum member in order to view it...]

Eeee! Pacey/Joey! Eeee!

*twirls*

And yeah, I can see where Bring Me To Life would fit with Dawson's Creek. Only not. Not at all.

*giggles*

You are the best.
