The greatest thing you'll ever learn...

Moulin Rouge still makes me cry at the end.

Ewan fucking McGregor, man. Of course, Baz is partly to blame, since he doesn't have a problem with actors seriously crying (see: Romeo and Juliet for more ugly and real crying from a Baz film). And Nicole is perfect in this, truly. Gorgeous and tragic and, dude, her skin glows.

I've seen this film... I couldn't possibly count the number of times. And yet, it captures me each time. I laugh and weep with just as much fervor as the first time I saw it in theaters. It's such an intensely cathartic movie -- it gives you permission to feel on an epic scale.

I keep trying to watch that film and I just get bored. I think that indicates that there is something wrong with me but I'm glad you like it so much.

Well, I'd ask if you're a musicals person, and if you are, I'd ask how much you like emotional rollercoasters (joy, twist, sorrow, and then dismount and the judges give it an eight), and if you do, I'd ask if you're the sort of person who doesn't like knowing the ending of the movie (since we know from the beginning that they're going to fall in love and that she dies). Because if any of those things doesn't work for you, Moulin Rouge probably wouldn't. And personal taste is never something to be ashamed of (says the woman who still semi-apologises when she mentions that she doesn't like Farscape).

Question -- which part do you tend to stop watching at?

I like musicals but Moulin Rouge never manages to grab me at any point. I try to get into it but I just can't.

That is, in fact, just how it is with me and Farscape. I try (and, in that case, I actually really like the individual actors), but when it comes to watching the episodes... I'd really rather just not. It doesn't catch me.

See, I'm the opposite, Farscape grabbed me in 10 minutes. But I keep trying to like Moulin Rouge but I just can't seem to.
