Smallville, Supernatural, Stargate: Atlantis -- Spoilers, Spoilers, Spoilers
All of the major casting spoilers would be appear to be about women, which is nice.
All the casting spoilers appear to be contentious, which is not surprising. So, I'm going to go with what I know, first... Sam on SGA.
I am really looking forward to this (possibly for the same reasons that others are dreading it -- because I hope that Sam will make some, in my opinion, much-needed changes toward a more ethical, smart, practical way of doing things). The only time Sam ever bugged me is when SG-1 pushed really hard on the Sam/Jack thing (beginning of S4 and end of S7). Other than that, we are gold. And I really adored her all throughout seasons nine and ten. Plus, I've always enjoyed her interactions with Rodney -- they have a lot of sparks together and she has no doubt of her intelligence, so she can dish right back when he does his various things. Sam/Rodney is my secret Stargate het OTP.
Over on Smallville, I hear that they're bringing in Kara, Clark's cousin. I think that has real potential -- he needs to come to terms with who he is and he came closest when talking to Raya, last year. Plus, their track record on women characters in general has improved so much -- the first three years were pretty much crap, but when they introduced Lois Lane, it was like they figured out that female characters could be complex, and their writing of Lana, in particular, really seemed to improve (because the plot of S4 is kinda bad, but the character stuff on Lana is so much better -- maybe they just have a hard time writing high school girls). Season five was not as strong in that regard as S4 (but still better than the first three seasons -- I care about the Clark/Lana in S5), but then S6 was fantastic, particularly (again), with Lois and Lana. And Chloe had a life/plot that didn't revolve around Clark or Lana, which was very good to see and I hope that they keep that up in S7 as well. All of which means that I'm looking forward to another female addition.
And Supernatural, where I hear that we'll be getting two reoccurring female characters whose plots don't at all revolve around the Winchesters. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for strong, proactive characters who don't get stepped on by the plot.

I'm definitely interested in how Sam will interact with John and the rest of the Atlantis crew as the person in charge. She, Daniel, and Teal'c were all such friends and equals that we didn't really get to see her take charge as much.

And I agree about SGA too. I'm fond of the Atlantis characters, but I love Sam, and I see a lot of potential in the new setup. I don't know that I'd say I ship Sam and Rodney, but I enjoy their dynamic, and I could be convinced.

Indeed! That's the one great thing that's been missing from Supernatural (which is probably part of why I was so excited every time one of the Jossverse women guested on the show -- I'm kinda hoping we'll get another one of those next year, too.). It's got pretty much everything else that I loved from Buffy, but it doesn't have that.

I ship them in a fun "I don't care whether or not it ever happens on the show" kinda way, which is a nice, relaxed feeling. I just like their interactions and find them generally amusing together.

After seeing Women's Work, I am SO HAPPY that there's going to be two new females. As opposed to mild interest beforehand. Yay vids!

Yeah, I don't particularly care if they get together or not, I just want them to have amusing, sparky interaction. Because I don't want to lose the McShep, either.

Indeed! WW really pointed out that we need some more proactive females on the show.
