butterfly: (Writing - due South)

Just got a call from work:

Well, from my manager. I may or may not be working today - depending on whether or not she can get there. She'll call either way to let me know.

Of course, if I do end up having another free day, I do already have one plan (check out The Silmarillion) but this may prove impossible (if the fast-food restaraunts are closed, how likely is it that the library will stay open?).

So, if anyone else (or hell, the same people) wants to ask me to write them some fic, I probably have the time. And I'd be happy to do it, for it is fun.

Oh, and I'd like to welcome all the people who've been adding me to their friendlist recently. Just as a warning - I slash, I write het, I write tons of meta, and I have what should be an embarrassing amount of love for my shows and movies (I'm not embarrassed). I have no problem reading Real Person Slash, incest, or non-con - as long as it's well-written. I'm fairly easy-going and I don't like to argue, though I'm good with disagreeing or debating (it's all about the levels of anger and fear).

Well, I've had this fic-bunny running around, with no plot.

See, in the wake of LotR, I notice how fangirls get so swoony over Legolas and Aragorn, and write all manner of fangirly Middle Earth fic. Self-insertion, in the form of senseless crossovers or the mysterious emergence of Elrond's other daughter. And then with the teen-y romance. And I don't begrudge them. But it makes me feel so sad.

Because bearded girls need love too.

Yeah. That's right. Where are all the Dwarf Women at?

I have in mind some sort of a parody/humor-ish fic idea wherein for no explainable reason, a she-dwarf stumbles through a portal into Post-Chosen Cleveland. (Because in such crossovers, there is always a portal and somebody comes through, but there's rarely a legit reason why.)

At which point the ambiguously gendered Dwarf must hook up with the ambiguously-gay Andrew. I'm trying to come up with anything else beyond that, while working in obligatory references to both "Howard the Duck" and the LotR films. At some point, Andrew will wax poetic, with those Mary Sue-ish descriptions of her crusty skin and auburn beard. Because instead of mocking his girlfriend for lookings like "ZZ Top", everybody should be jealous of the love that they share.

And at some point, the females (and Andrew) will whine because the Middle Earth visitor wasn't Legolas or Aragorn.

Sadly, I have no other plot. But I really want to see a parody/humor fic of this sort. You want it?

Dude, that's all detailed and such. You should write it. It sounds funny and interesting with a sweet edge (Well, yes, Andrew, after all). And you could be all knowing with the Middle-Earth knowledge and such.

And the plot can be the story of the dwarf - her arrival would confuse many. She's probably start out wanting to go home, and then she'd slowly fall for Andrew and would have to make a Choice. And depending on your story, she could chose either to stay or to go - and maybe she'd offer to take Andrew with her. And then you'd have another Choice.

Yes. I should. But I'm still stuck in the "that would be cool" phase. If unable to scare up a plot - and if you've read any of my fic you'll notice that I suck at plot - I will probably just post the abstract and beg for someone else to write.

Have you read my stuff? I, too, share the failing of sucking at plot.

We're two plotless souls, on the highway of life.

Two plot-less souls....on the lost highway.

If I find pictures and supply you with text, will you iconize for me? If you don't have to work today, that is.

Shall I entertain you with manips I've made? One of my favorites is Christina as Velma Kelly. :P

it's a big one, but yeah, I pasted her face onto Catherine's body and fixed it enough to look like a decent picture. :P

Now, I kinda wanna see Christina actually dress up as Velma. Hmm.

Being entertained is always fun.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I think Chris Kirkpatrick and Hal Sparks look kind of like each other, but Chris has a chubbier face and Hal is funnier.

hey, i'm one of those people who added you recently (well, semi-recently. it's been a few months.), and i keep meaning to tell you how much i enjoy all your posts. especially the ones you'd make about Angel in the middle of the night which would make me late for class reading them in the morning. and i have a feeling you're pretty much singlehandedly making me fall more and more in love with lotr, so yay. anyway. hi. :)

Thank you. That's really great to know - it's nice to know what bits people enjoy. Makes actually writing all this stuff done seem more valid, somehow.

[identity profile] livinglaurel.livejournal.com 2004-01-07 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
((cries)) I didn't see this early enough to request anything, as I had the day off from work but celebrated it mainly sleeping ((cries again)).

You have one of the best attitudes I've ever seen. I can't imagine anyone getting upset with you over much of anything, unless they were Just Rude.

I'm pretty easy. I take random requests.

And thank you. I am very easy-going and accepting, but I do also like reading things that make other people go "ick". And some people draw lines about that. I don't, but it isn't up to me to tell them not to.

Oooooooooooooh.

Heh. One fan's "squee" is another fan's "ick"?

Exactly. I try to respect the ick.

"Tame the squee -- respect the ick!" Ooh, sorry, just popped into my head....
