Dark Angel: Oh! The Ship!

Spent most of today watching tv (friends came over and we rewatched eps 1-4. Just as good the second time around!) and then reading stuff online and have had no time to respond to anything. But! I should have a few free hours tomorrow and then I will finally get a chance to reply to comments.

So, I've now seen through Red and I am totally shipping Max/Logan, hardcore. They're so... adorable. They have this intensely sweet dance of attraction going on that I find very appealing. I love the other characters so much, too! I loved Normal realizing that he didn't care if his lady-love used to be a guy, love pretty much every single thing that Original Cindy says or does (More Original Cindy would be the only thing that could make the show better). I love Zach, over-militarized as he is. I love the other people in Max's life -- Kendra, Sketch, Herbal -- who make everything in the show feel richer. I love Bling! He's such a good friend to Logan.

And Max and Logan are just the right mix of sweet and hesitant. I love that they're making this progression feel real. She kissed him! So cute! And then they both try to back away from that but... oh, in Blah Blah Woof Woof, she just had a feeling that something was wrong (and she noticed that he wasn't looking well) and then she hooked herself up to him and gave him her blood and they seemed to have shared a vision of dancing together.

*waves hands helplessly*

How am I supposed to not ship that? How can I avoid shipping such an absolutely adorable and devoted set of characters? Adorable! And they keep making each other smile (I love their smiles!). And then she wanted to cook for him (because he cooks for her all the time! she wants to return the favor and invite him to her place for once) and he panicked because he has silly issues (okay, his issues are not at all silly, but he is if he thinks they matter to Max, because she clearly *hearts* him... but I do understand why he has the issues, I do) and then avoids like anything, but then he's in trouble and she sees the bad that's going down and she's so there for him, saving him when he needs it. And then he reaches out and so does she and... oh, so cute. And they both realize the importance of what the other person was caring about, at the beginning of the episode.

It makes me so happy to have you discovering DA all shiny and new. Haven't watched season one in too long - will have to add it to my list of 'shows to rewatch when I get time', as I'm in the throes of season two right now.

Yeah, Max and Logan's dynamic is very cute. Can get a little tedious in season two (is that a spoiler? I hope not) but their motivations and emotional progression is always easy to follow and understand. Max is so guarded - forming a meaningful relationship is pretty alien to her, she's had to protect her secret for so long, and she's so emotionally damaged by her childhood. And Logan is contantly having to deal with that.

Aw, poor Logan and Max. I've heard spoilery things (actually was spoiled for a lot of 'plot' points before I watched even the Pilot) that made me sad for them. Sounds like they go through some very tough times in S2.

I need to stop reading your squeeful posts about Dark Angel, because it's reminding me of how much I loved the first season and it makes me want to find those episodes again and watch them.

Maybe one day...

Once I'm done re-watching the ten other shows I have in a queue at the moment.

And, yes, Max/Logan were all kinds of adorable the first season. :)

They are so cute! But then in the most recent episode, there was sad foreshadowing talk ("We have all the time in the world," Logan says and I yell at the screen, "No! Hook up now! I've read spoilers! You may not have a chance later!").

Their relationship works so well. I feel so bad for them, that they're going to have to go through so much shit in S2 (from what I hear).

*heh* You are so right about what you yelled at the screen because if anyone ever says that line or "What could possibly happen to us now?", then you know it's not going to turn out well. Silly, silly characters...*sigh*

And Season 2 is a bit of a trial, from what I remember, regarding Max and Logan's relationship. It frustrated me at the time because of the contrivances used by the writers and producers to keep Max and Logan apart. I will never understand why TV shows can't have a main couple together and happy and working toward something important, all at the same time. What's wrong with that? Frankly, I think forced angst and triangles and the like is beyond old, but maybe that's just me. Again, I'd have to re-watch the second season, because I don't remember all that happened between the two of them, and I'm sure there are some really sweet moments sprinkled in there amongst the episodes. :)
