Vampire Diaries: 3x20 - Do Not Go Gentle
I really hate how Elena's exploration of her feelings is being framed as "what Stefan wants". Can Elena's feelings not be all about Stefan's feelings, Caroline? Seriously. Again, I don't want Caroline to be plumping for Elena/Damon - that would be way out of character for her, but I don't see why she has to plump Elena/Stefan. Why not advocate Elena being boy-free for a while? Elena herself was even planning to go to the dance just with her female friends - why is that not good enough for Caroline?
Just. Argh. "Stefan is your epic love." WTF, Caroline. WTF.
And then Stefan has this whole douchey triumphant smirk of douche-dom after Elena ~asks him to the dance. Ugh. Well, at least Damon overheard the phonecall so he's not going to get surprised by it later.
Ha, of course Damon didn't fall for Alaric's act. Alaric underestimated him, thinking that he's so desperate for friendship that he's not going to pick on up weirdness. Wrong!
The Salvatore tomb is right over the spot where Klaus ripped out Esther's heart. Huh.
And now Caroline is warning Matt off Elena in order to protect Stefan's interests. I don't even know what's going on with her. Matt! Matt has only shown friendship vibes toward Elena this entire season. Where is this "don't try to hook up with her" thing coming from, Caroline? He hasn't been! I'm beginning to suspect she's possessed by Lexi or something. Except I guess there would be more torture in that case.
Ugh, Stefan is so manipulative. I'm getting such skeevy vibes off him tonight. I think it's because he never actually made up for anything. He just 'changed back' and expected that to fix everything and immediately started acting like he had the right to feel betrayed if Elena had feelings for Damon. Even here, he's all "oh, gosh, I guess I should apologize to Bonnie" but he doesn't go over to do it, because he's saying that so that Elena will think better of him, not because he actually feels like he should apologize to Bonnie.
And I think the part that bothers me the most is how well his manipulations work on people. He's got Elena convinced that he's being "fair" and that he "respected her opinions" and all sorts of stuff that wasn't ever true and it just... it just gets to me how he manages to get people to believe his BS.
Meanwhile, Damon has more serious things on his mind. Thankfully.
Oooooh, creepy. All this time, it was Esther who was the voice in Alaric's head when he was dead, poisoning him. And she's probably been talking to Jeremy, too, then.
Early in the episode, Damon says that they should just kill Alaric. A mercy killing. He says that Alaric would agree with him. And now Alaric does confirm that that's the choice he would make, to die rather than become a weapon against those he cares about.
Ugh, Stefan. Stop taking advantage of Elena's emotional vulnerability.
The Damon/Alaric scene at the end was very touching. We got to see genuine friendship and affection from both sides.
And nice wow! shocker ending. I had a feeling Alaric wouldn't die (not like that) because there are two episodes left, but that was still quite effective.

SAD, B, I am really sadfaced.
Stefan Salvatore, you smug jerk - why is it that Stefan ALWAYS gets what he wants? If he messes up, it slides off him. That doesn't mean he's the better man, but rather that he's never had to face up to what he's done and figures that people will be FINE with him, so long as he puts on a smile and washes his hands.

Yes. He's just the golden boy who smiles and gets the world handed to him on a silver platter. Still.

This is not something that is going to HELP Damon. He's going to be mostly on his own again.
ARGH.
Right, Stefan is the golden boy, only the finish is a cheap one, and chips easily. He just turns so you can't see it.
*grumbles* As a character trait, it's consistent, but it's so very tiresome and annoying.

Yeah, Damon has no one now. Absolutely no one.

Yeah, there are people like that in the world, who do horrible things but then never suffer the consequences but they are not terribly sympathetic people, as a general rule.

Gah. He's all alone again. And, never mind what Stefan wants, or their BOND, Stefan HAS people. He always has. And Stefan's regard has been fickle.
Yep, and this is exactly why I have never been all that fond of the Littlest Salvatore. He needs to feel the consequences.
