Doctor Who: Nervous about S5?

[livejournal.com profile] arabian was wondering if there would be enough interest around to start up some kind of lj-comm where people who are rather cautious about Series Five of Doctor Who (specifically because of qualms about the new show runner) could talk without getting in the way of people who are whole-heartedly enthusiastic about the changes that the show will be making in the future.

It would, in theory, exist for people regardless of whether or not they're currently planning on watching S5 and would focus on critical analysis and S5 news discussion. It would be a place where people who do very much love Doctor Who can talk about reasons they might be nervous/scared/not planning to watch S5.

Definitely don't want it to be a hate-group. Those get so bitter and nasty and just... ick. Anything that's dedicated to hate is just doomed to be ugly, I think.

Personally, I don't know how interested I'm going to be after Tennant leaves. I was having a discussion over at [info]potc_discussion recently, that I tend to enjoy fandoms for certain characters, not "worlds." Without Nine, Ten, or Rose and quite possibly without Jack, I just don't know if I'll care.

Totally understandable. I actually did go ahead and fall in love with Classic Who once I'd been introduced through New Who, so I'm rather sad about giving it up for however long Moffat will be running the show. On the plus side, being Who, it's rather inevitable that it'll continue on after him.

JMHO, of course. I'm not about to campaign about how other people shouldn't keep watching or that it's "not canon" or whatever other trolling there might be.

I always find it impossible to ignore canon, however little I might like it!

Yes, I don't want to harsh anyone's squee, for those who are excited. Actually, I don't have any problems with Moffat. I love Coupling, and "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" remain my favorite episodes of DW ever. I just don't know if I can bring myself to care without the characters I love. YMMV.

That is precisely why we want to make this community. So that we can talk about this stuff without spoiling anyone's joy, for whatever reason.
