Tuesday TV: Bones and House

Bones

Bones makes me really happy when it comes to a willingness to explore gender issues. I loved what Bones had to say about objectification -- she's totally right. Also, Booth really is a complete romantic, isn't he? It always surprises me, a little. I'm not sure why. Though I don't agree with him that fetish-based sex is 'crappy sex' by definition, I do agree that the essence of 'good' sex (and love and life) is about forming real and true connections with other people.

Angela and Jack continue to be utterly adorable (though I felt bad for Bones and Zach, who both got burnt a bit by their frustration). Their relationship is such a beautiful thing -- the respect and care that they show for each other and the many ways that they show that they're in love with who the other person really is and not some idealized version... I love it.

Loved Annie Oakley. Of course, that's partly because she's Christina Cox, who played my favorite two-bit due South villain ever (Caroline Morgan) and who I think is both fantastic and hot. She gives good 'evil, impatient, and slightly crazy'. Love her.

House

Never have I been so satisfied to call a storyline -- Foreman will save her, I said. And he'll get fired for it. And he did, both! I felt vindicated because it was the only thing that made character sense, but it also really had to be done for Foreman's sake. I quite enjoyed all the (former) ducklings in this episode. They've all kept the growth that they got during their stay as House's fellows, plus the growth they achieved by quitting (or, in Chase's case, being fired). I'm perfectly happy with the amount of (former) duckling air time.

House and Wilson continue to be the thing of beauty that they've been so far this season. Love them.

Love the whittling down of the hatchlings, too. My personal votes -- #13, #24, and #6/9. Plus, Jacob (#26?) just for fun (since he's not a real doctor, he should be in his own system. *nods*). And that would prove #24 wrong about the gender thing, which I'd enjoy.
