This Year's Model of Humanity

disclaimer - This is a rough sketch of a set of essays that I plan to write at some point in the future (hopefully not too far in the future, but seeing as I have completed a grand total of two actual essay sets, I am guessing that it will be a while). Mostly? It's a listing of ideas that I want to explore in essay format.

There are several episodes that can be viewed as touchstones for the rest of the series. After watching the first three episodes of the new season of Angel and thinking about Season Seven of Buffy, I got the urge to rewatch Amends. My first viewing of it since my crush on Angel formed.

There are two things brought up in this episode that return to haunt us. The First is introduced in this episode and we all know where that went (and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey).

So, I'll be looking at the other thing.

Oh! That reminds me - I need to work on my 'Defense of' essays (Some pov essays about disliked or hated characters, showing how and why they were integral in the Buffy/Angel mythos and why their actions made complete and sympathetic sense from their point of view. Being written mostly because I'm contrary (characters that I'm writing about include Kennedy, Fred, Veruca, Kate, Glory, Dawn, Spike (which is being written to combat my own instinctive dislike of him and to make me more sympathetic to his point of view), Xander, and Buffy (The actual list is much longer.).).).

That was way too many sets of parenthesis.

Way too many ideas and not enough time to explore them.

Personally, I am totally shocked that I am already writing fic for this movie. It normally takes me a couple of months, at the very least, to settle into a character's skin.

And I'm going to be continuing this, definitely. And this now means that I have four WIP (WsIP? WIPs? How do you pluralize that word? Because it probably should be WsIP (Works In Progress) but WIPs (Work in Progresses?) looks better).

*tears out hair*

*wishes that she could write as fast as many of the writers she admires*

This next part is a rough-cut. I'm going to redo it on Monday, after I rewatch some more of the middle S4 Angel's. I do need to leave now, though, for my dad's.
