It does treat the Fraser/Vecchio friendship wonderfully. I loved it, because I do enjoy their friendship. But it's also clear that they won't be in each other's day to day lives. They're good with that, because, like you say, good friends can live miles apart and still be close. But as far as slash potential? The F/V level is pretty low apart from the initial chasing down of Ray. Because their relationship isn't about that, whereas Fraser and RayK always have the physical and romantic thrumming in the background.
