Aw, man, I'm a dork. I just realized I typed Richard JEAN Anderson instead of Richard DEAN Anderson. Whoops.

I agree. Gen. Jack is a lot of fun. (In tv reality) The world is a safer place. At least from alien parasitic snakes and other hostile non-terran races. I really warmed to Jack's character because he's a nice alternative to my own experience with the Air Force point of view, speaking as an Air Force brat myself.

Daniel. ::cue sigh:: Intelligence is such a huge turn-on. Even better when it's filtered through snarkiness. I thoroughly enjoy the moments when he delivers a shot of vicious sarcasm to the truly deserving after his patience has been shot. And his heart is so big, he has this huge capacity for compassion. And it drives Jack nuts, because even when he argues the opposite point of view, he's forced to listen to Daniel's side, which is usually the harder way to do things. But the reason Jack's "forced" to consider Daniel's side of the argument is because he can't deny that it's a valid one. I love when those two have those types of really intense arguments. I'm glued to the screen.

Oh yeah. I hear you on the sexy determination. It's his intense drive motivated by an honest intent to serve the greater good. As well as a certain off-kilter way of viewing the world. Without a doubt, this is the number one quality that will draw me to a character.

And once I started watching, I was all, "If only I'd known the greatness!"

I know! It's only been about several months for me, and I've been kicking myself. The two episodes I actually devoted my full attention to for the first time and finally gave the show a shot were the Groundhog Day-ish one (Window of Opportunity?) and the one with Teal'c's first appearance. Watching Jack and Teal'c follow Daniel's suggestion of taking advantage of the time loop to go nuts; and Teal'c popping down the snake's hood helmet as he greeted Jack face-to-face for the first time, respectively. Those moments really clinched it for me. I was hooked. I couldn't believe I had been missing out on this great show for so many years. I'm just glad I discovered it while it was still running and had a chance to talk to other fans about it.

But the other side of the coin, is the one you mentioned. If I'd thought there was any chance of Daniel dying--for good--and never coming back I would've been seriously upset. It's so cool watching those old episodes, because I can relax with the peace of mind that it's all going to be okay when Friday rolls around with new episodes in which Daniel is alright. I would've probably despised Jonas, but I'm glad I don't have any baggage about that character and can enjoy him for himself and not as an unwelcome replacement. Theoretically. I haven't seen a full Jonas episode yet. But I liked that actor back from the Parker Lewis Can't Lose days. (Don't know if you ever saw that show.)
