Well, let's see. Daniel leaves rather dramatically at the end of season five, but he's back full-time in season seven. He makes three appearances in season six, one of which is a very popular episode for the J/D slashers. *g*
There is a significant segment of fandom devoted to worshipping, infantilizing, feminizing and/or sainting Daniel. You'll run across them sooner or later if you're in fandom any length of time, and you can see this in much of the fiction. It's annoying in the extreme. So Daniel-worshipping fans are greeted with suspicion until they are understood to be in the 'not rabid' category.
Comprehensive fandom guides...no. I keep up the fanon vs. canon primer, which is useful in sorting out certain things. http://www.lyricalmagic.com/fanoncanon.html
For total show information, Arduinna's Handbook is a fabulous resource. http://www.trickster.org/arduinna/stargate/
Otherwise, you'll mostly have to ask questions, I think. There's always someone around to answer. *g*
As for the icon, I'll be back shortly with a couple for you.
