...

I just told someone why I haven't friended them back.

I hate having to do that, though I do think that it's a bit tacky to say something that implies the question. It's just... it's like, if you say, "Oh, I guess you haven't seen my entries on that," I'm not going to say, "Oh my, I've forgotten to friend you, let me rush to do that."

Still, coming out and letting someone know that you haven't been reading their stuff and why... makes me feel more than a little like I'm being selfish or something.

On the other hand, he doesn't capitalize anything or use apostrophes. And that really does tend to give me headaches.

Making things worse, this is someone that I've met off-line. Where I couldn't tell if he used capitals or not. And he's not a bad guy at all. And he's not rude, just... a little bit pushy, yeah?

Just... I dislike being put in a corner. And this is my journal.

dude, i totally feel you on that. there's this guy i know irl, he's really fuckin' great and everything, but i cannot stand to read his journal. he only just learned to type a few months ago, so his spelling and grammar and everything are just migraine-inducing. and, well, he's really whiney. all he ever posts about is how desperate he is to get laid. which, whatever, i feel for ya bud, but i don't need to hear it all the time, especially if it's poorly written, lol.

Thanks, hon.

And he's being nice about it, but, again, in a pushy way. He's offered to 'catch me up' on his lj posts the next time I see him. Which just... dude. Do you see me trying to push my lj posts on anyone? No. And why not? Because it's an annoying thing to do to people.

You know, this is why I don't necessarily tell anyone when I friend them or ask them if they've friended me. It's their business. And if someone says in my comments, "Have you read my entries on (same subject)?" I give 'em a non-commital answer. "No, I guess I haven't," or some such.

I usually try to be more diplomatic. It's tough, sometimes. I really do wish that it were called something besides 'friends list'. Reading list, maybe.

Eeep, that's a really akward situation to find yourself in.

I make it a point to avoid all friending/unfriending discussion. I never felt the need to ask why someone unfriends me, for instance (mostly, it's self-explanatory: they don't want to read my lj anymore. Which, fine).

The term 'friendslist' is very loaded.

It really is. Exceedingly uncomfortable.

Yeah, it's generally obvious. I've lost people when I've switched main fandoms, and occasionally, it does bug, when you thought that they were there for more than fandom stuff, but it's complicated.

The term 'friendslist' is very loaded.

Oh yeah.
