Dollhouse 1x11 -- Briar Rose
First, wow, Eliza and Alan had smoking chemistry in that final scene. Wow. That was so hot with the kissing and leaning on each other.
Second... Alpha has been playing Ballard all season, which amuses me on so many levels. He's the one who sent Ballard Caroline's picture, thus jump-starting his whole obsession. All so that he could have his distraction and succeed in imprinting Echo.
This is really a show with no good guys (and I can understand why some people wouldn't find that appealing to watch) but they're all complicated, which is what I'm enjoying. I like that I really have no clue what's going to happen in "Omega".
I'm currently wondering if maybe Echo and Alpha were like Sierra and Victor, only the Dollhouse didn't see it and Alpha went AWOL on them (but promised Echo he'd come back for her). "Deeper than memory," Topher says about Echo, Sierra, and Victor having lunch together too frequently.
And was anyone else seeing a lot of Topher in Alpha's mannerisms when he was pretending to be Keppler? I wonder if that's just acting on Alpha's part or if maybe Alpha's drawing on an imprint of Topher (including others, naturally).
I really liked Echo/Susan's interpretation of the Prince in Sleeping Beauty... that it was the princess herself, fighting to wake up.
I was completely unsurprised that Ballard failed to 'rescue' Caroline (or anyone else).
The Ballard and Boyd fight was interesting to me because both men are fighting, basically, to protect someone who isn't quite there -- Boyd is invested in Echo as opposed to Caroline, but Echo is constantly modified and changed by the memories that the Dollhouse gives her and, of course, one of the main reasons that Echo trusts Boyd is that she was brainwashed into trusting him. Boyd wants to protect his broken doll and Ballard wants to save his broken girl and neither of them has a clue.
Alpha... I don't know. He's obviously crazy and a killer and sadistic. Was he like that before the Dollhouse got their hands on him or is this entirely of their making?
Enver Gjokaj continues to be epically fantastic. He was so entirely Dominic. Wow.
I really hope that this gets a second season. The actors are so good and the concept really is complex enough to create an entire world.
