I like this because it kind of mirrors what a lot of people might think about Rose - that just because she hasn't had that much school it doesn't mean she's stupid. Rose gets called on it from Gwyneth and seems to take it to heart.
And people really do have that misapprehension -- I don't know why. The show makes the point over and over that intelligence and education are not the same thing and that just because a person has been undereducated, they have to be less intelligent. I'm baffled by how large the segment of fandom is that watches the show and then disregards everything it says. If they disagree so strongly, why are they watching it in the first place?
Yeah, definitely. And I tend to think it's the regeneration that really helps with this - not necessarily because he *looks* younger, but because he's regenerated for her and because of her and influenced by her, and he *feels* younger. In series 2, anyway!
He really does. I think that his regeneration reflects the way that Rose makes him feel and then spending time with her on top of that amplifies the feeling.
