Doctor Who: More on Planet of the Ood (music-related)
So, the Doctor's song may be ending soon. What's that about? I've got no notion. Isn't that fun?
The bit of the Doctor's theme that plays at the end of PotO goes sliding down fast, much faster than it plays in the straight-up 'Doctor's Theme'. It is, in fact, exactly the version of the song that appears over the driving beat of 'Doomsday' (all of the 'Doctor's Theme' is much... dreamier than the more intent version that is sung during 'Doomsday').
Note: Ah-ha. A mystery is solved. Though the melody from DD is not the same as "The Doctor's Theme", it is still the same as the music that happens when Rose enters the TARDIS (as pointed out by cookie2697), which is not "the Doctor's Theme" and does not appear to be on the soundtrack of first series (unless someone else finds it there!).
And here's the imeem link if the embed doesn't work.
They're the two halves of a whole -- she's the driving, burning determination and he's the lone, calling voice. Each reaching out. Each still lost.
And that is all the meta that I have for right now.

And I didn't say it before, but I love the meta that right now he's the lonely voice crying out while she's the burning determination. There's something very poignant about that.
Thanks. It kinda sums up their relationship for me, even in the very beginning -- she's the one searching him out and looking him up while he's trying to be 'always all right' in the wake of the Time War.

I love the AGENCY and POWER of the fact that she is the one seeking him out, and determined...it's just one of those amazing things about this show. Every season finale has put the power in the hands of the companion at some point, and I think more poignantly with Rose than any other. And the idea of her taking it into her own hands rather than sitting in Pete's World and waiting. I'm dying to find out HOW she's made it possible.
I think more than anything...at this point I'm just looking forward the the LOOK on his FACE when he figures it all out ;)

Rose's reaching out for the Hero story is definitely part of why I love her so much. I'm really looking forward to finding out more.
