Wouldn't it be interesting if they met Jack (who wouldn't recognise them, becuase for him it would be pre TEC/TDD) and, knowing what he now knows, the Doctor had to decide whether to save Jack's life?
If the Doctor did that, it might even be that the Doctor was the one who took away some of Jack's memories. That would explain why Jack never refers to the incident in their later meetings.
