I spent a good three and a half years completely out of the Supernatural fandom until I got dragged back in by gifs on tumblr. It's been a bit of a roller coaster but there are some things about it that have been 100% positive. Among them is the adorable and healthy sibling-ish relationship that has developed between Dean Winchester, badass hunter (and secret nerd), and Charlie Bradbury, brilliant nerd (and secret badass).

Lots of great vids. Lots of variety in the vids in the premieres show. There wasn't one big fandom, like there can be some years.
The room parties were very fun.
I'm kinda still tired from flying out early in the morning and then heading to work, so I hope to have more thoughts tomorrow. I also hope to get a chance to watch the new Torchwood episode. I have it, but just haven't had the time/energy to watch yet.
Oh, and Kris Allen premiered a new song tonight at his concert, but I haven't had a chance to hear it yet. Apparently, it's a gorgeous bluesy love song.
ETA: I heard Kris's song. He's got such a pretty voice.
Here's a vid with pretty decent audio (once you get past the screaming at the front):
Who else is going?
2. Nick Jonas tweeted that he's successfully graduated (from high school)! Good for him.
3. Kings returns today. I've already got my DVR set up to record it. Very sad that the pre-order for the dvd set says 'complete series'. *sad eyes*
4. Finals are next week! And then I have three and a half weeks before summer term starts up.
5. I should be submitting to Premieres (for VVC) either today or tomorrow. Which is yay.
6. I'm seeing RENT! at the end of this month. With Adam and Anthony. And I heard it being advertised on the radio the other day, which is awesome.
7. *pouts* I want Eureka and Psych to start up again right now! I need my awesome BFF shows (and apart from the coolness that is Jack and Henry, I love Jack's relationship with his daughter, Zoe. A lot. Though I don't actually ship Jack/Henry the way I do Shawn/Gus, I just find their friendship the most compelling part of the show).
Just in case it takes me forever to do the rest of the vids, I wanted to jot down my thoughts on the Premiere Show vids right away. Briefly, on the Con itself: every single year, I've had more fun. I've known more people and gotten to meet yet more people. It was really delightful this year.
( Thoughts on the Premiere Show Vids (Part One) )
I have three upcoming trips, one of which I only decided to do quite recently. Since there are people on my flist who are also going to two of these places, I thought I would share information and etc.
VividCon: which is next week (eee!) in Chicago. I'm leaving the fourteenth and getting back the eighteenth. I anticipate having much fun (vids! Yay!).
My brother's wedding: October 18th, California. He's getting married to a funny, smart and pretty woman. I've only met her a couple of times, but she made a great impression on me. I think they have the chance to be really happy with each other.
Hamlet (!) and Love's Labor's Lost: October 20-21. I'm pretty much going straight from my brother's wedding to this (I've already gotten my plane ticket). I'm going to see David Tennant as Hamlet. Eeee! I'm kinda ridiculously excited about this. I'm flying into London and then there's a bus out to Stratford. I'm staying in a guesthouse with antigone921 and we're going to be seeing LLL on the 20th and Hamlet on the 21st (along with, apparently, quite a few other DT fans on that same night). There are tentative plans for a bunch of us to get together for lunch on the day of Hamlet. On the 22nd, I'm going to take the bus back to London, where I'm thinking of staying at a youth hostel, as those are fairly cheap (I've found one online that looks good). I'm going to be in London on the 23rd all day (my grandmother made me promise to go to the British Museum), and then I'm flying back to the USA on Friday the 24th.
Where I will, presumably, collapse from happy exhaustion.
Have officially decided that I am emotionally incapable of choosing a favorite RTD series.
Also, I am twiddling over the fine details of the vid that I'm doing for VVC. I think it's going rather well. I made a change last night and I'm planning on changing it back to the original way right now. It's all very Oscar Wilde of me.
I'm massively excited about Vividcon. I've managed to have more fun at it each time that I've gone, which is a pretty neat trick. And the packing is going fairly well, considering that we still have twelve days until we actually move (had I mentioned the moving on here, yet?).
Next, I need to send my paypal payment in and start checking out airfares. Room-wise, I'm planning on staying Thurs-Sun (little shorter than I used to do, because I want to make sure I can arrange my summer classes to miss the dates). I'm all by myself this year, and welcome rooming with other people (whether I've roomed with them before or not).
And now, I go squee.
It's Not Over
Dean won't let the road end here.
(spoilers up to Supernatural 2x22 -- All Hell Breaks Loose)
I'm gonna try to do it right this time around.

( External Aesthetics and Vid Structure )
After that, I had some lunch and then went to two vids shows -- 'Daughter of Experimental Vids' and 'Movie Vids' -- then I went to the 'Movie Vids' panel and stayed for 'Town Hall: Vidding and Visibility'.
( Daughter of Experimental Vids )
( Movie Vids )
Then we had the 'Town Hall' panel which was... fascinating. I'm probably not the person best equipped to report on that, as I take lousy notes, but it was very intriguing, with a lot of focus from an academically-focused feminist activist perspective.
After that, jic and I had dinner with morgandawn (and her husband xlorp), par_avion, and cmshaw and then... *dramatic drumroll* it was time for Premieres.
