Author's Notes: Set during “The Birthday” (3.01) but implying spoilers learned from “The End of the Affair” (3.03). “Dead Man’s Bells” is another name for Digitalis purpurea, a plant that is toxic from root to petal and that was used to make digitalis (a medicine used to regulate the pulse before safer methods were found, as the difference between the amount that helps and the amount that is toxic is very narrow). Depending on the heart in question and how large a dose is given, digitalis can either slow the heartbeat or it can speed it.

I was going to try to go see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows today, but I am still sick (much with the coughing; not so good for a theater) so I'm delaying until the weekend.

The Vampire Diaries comes back this Thursday! I'm very excited about that. I'm also planning on checking out at least the Portland episode of American Idol (half-crossing my fingers that no one from Portland actually makes it through because I feel like I might be obligated to keep watching for their sake). Didn't get around to checking out any of the shows that I thought I might during this break because first there were cousins and then there was being sick (which started last Thursday).

Things I am super-excited about for 2012:

a. I should, barring strange delays, graduate this year.
b. The Vampire Diaries (I'm hoping/thinking that this year we'll get a good Elena-driven and reciprocated romantic kiss for Damon/Elena) is going to continue to kick ass and take names, I expect.
c. Kris Allen (♥ ♥ ♥) and Adam Lambert (♥ ♥) and possibly Haley Reinhart (♥) should be releasing albums this year.
d. The Avengers - I'm just, ah, really looking forward to this movie so much. I love all the characters who will be in it! I'm pretty sure there's no way I can fail to love the movie. Just. Not seeing how it can even be possible.

It kinda baffles me how Tom Cruise can be so... yeah, all the things that he is... and yet still be a compelling actor with so much charisma on-screen. It's a mystery.
